Ready, set, flip! Pancakes all round
While Ufton village held a traditional pancake-flipping race, Princethorpe College students ate as many pancakes as they could to support a global feeding project.
Meanwhile little ones at Winchcombe Farm Day Nursery in Upper Tysoe whipped up and fried their batter, decorated their pancakes, took part in races and learnt about Lent.

Hide AdGillian Ingham, who helped to organise the Ufton races, said: “It’s popular, but as with most village events, you wonder how much longer it will last. So we were quite impressed that so many people came along.”
Winners in categories for under-sixes, six-to-16-year-olds and adults were presented with baskets of eggs supplied by race organiser Ann Ainscow, while all competitors were rewarded with Scotch pancakes to eat.
Rod Isaacs, assistant head of sixth form at Princethorpe College, which was raising funds for Mary’s Meals, said: “We had great fun today with lots of support from all the pupils on the playground.”
The college will lend further support to the project by organising a 40-mile walk along the Coventry Way later this term.
