Attica are back with a new album

LEAMINGTON band Attica have spread their wings again after a brief time apart and are ready to release their first album in six years.

Freed from the shackles of a previous record label contract the band are enjoying their new found freedom and have created As The Crow Flies, a mini-album recorded at Woodbine Studios and overseen by Paul Weller producer John Rivers.

Attica formed ten years ago and won the BBC New Music Award in 2006 before having their music chosen to accompany Sky Sports’ rally coverage.

James Berryman, the band’s lead singer and guitarist, said: “Our biggest achievement is that we’re still here. Ten years ago we had our picture taken in Radford Road for an EP we’d just finished at Woodbine.

“If you had said to me ten years later that we’d still be making music and recording I’d have been pleasantly surprised. ”

Over the years Attica have toured with Blondie and Ocean Colour Scene and list musician Gary Numan and Coldplay producer Brian Eno among their supporters.

As the Crow Flies will be launched at Verve Bar in Rugby on Saturday October 22 and will be available to buy on iTunes, Amazon and the band’s Myspace page from that date.
