Women Supporting Women: Social Thirties celebrates local author H S Davies at Leamington Book Club

A special edition of The Social Book Club is taking place next week at Café Desa, celebrating local author and community member H S Davies and her debut novel Chasing Summer.
Hosted in the heart of Leamington Spa, the evening will bring together women in their twenties, thirties & forties from across Warwickshire for a relaxed night of conversation, connection and storytelling - which this month is all centred around supporting a local female talent.
Published in August 2025, Chasing Summer marks Hannah’s first step into the world of published fiction - a courageous milestone many aspiring writers dream of but few pursue. Born in the Midlands, she studied French and Spanish at the University of Bath before completing a Master’s degree in Literary Translation at the University of Warwick. She is currently working on a dark romantasy series, which she hopes to release in 2026.
What makes this event particularly special is that H S Davies isn’t just a visiting author - she’s part of The Social Thirties community herself.

The Social Thirties was created to help women in their thirties build meaningful friendships and rediscover confidence through curated social events such as brunches, book clubs, Art clubs and trips abroad. Every woman arrives alone - which might sound unusual, but the concept removes pressure, breaks down cliques, and creates instant connection. It’s a simple idea that has taken Warwickshire by storm and now branching off into The Social Twenties and Forties too!
The Social book club is hosted by community member Ameena Iqbal, who first attended a Social Thirties event last March before stepping into the role of monthly book club host. Since then, Ameena has led the group with warmth, care and quiet confidence - creating a space where women feel safe to show up, share their thoughts, and connect over books and conversation. Her journey from attendee to host reflects the heart of The Social Thirties: empowering women within the community to step forward, use their strengths, and lead in their own way.
Founder Courtney said:
“We love spotlighting women within our own community and giving them the confidence to push themselves. Publishing your first book takes huge bravery, especially alongside work and everyday life. Hannah is such a brilliant example of what can happen when women feel supported to follow their creative instincts. And watching Ameena grow from attendee to book club host has been incredibly special too - this is exactly what The Social Thirties is about.”

When she isn’t writing, Hannah (H S Davies) can be found reading romance novels, crocheting, or collecting new bruises while pole dancing - a reflection of the multifaceted lives many women in the community lead.
The evening will include a relaxed discussion of Chasing Summer, an author Q&A, and plenty of opportunity for attendees to connect with one another. For many, it’s not just about the book, but about being part of something bigger - a local network where women champion each other’s growth, creativity and courage.
As The Social Thirties continues to expand across Warwickshire and beyond, events like this highlight its wider mission: building community, combating loneliness, celebrating female talent, supporting female-owned businesses, and reminding women that it’s never too late to try something new - whether that’s attending a book club solo or publishing your very first novel.
