Contemporary art laid bare with gallery talks

Postmodern artworks from black bin liners to a gallery filled with air - the concept and ideas behind the movement will be explained through an intensive series of talks.

The talks will coincide with Unreliable Evidence, a major exhibition of work by seven contemporary artists centred around Edouard Manet’s, The Execution of Maximilian which is now on display.

The public series will start on November 18 with ‘A Gallop Through 50 Years of Contemporary Art’ with consultant Gill Nicol at 6pm.

She will be at the Warwick Arts Centre gallery to look at why artists broke away from traditional ways of working and whether art really can be anything.

The entertaining talk is aimed at anyone curious to know more and there will be chance to ask questions.

The exploration into art will continue with a roundtable discussion on November 11 titled, ‘The Iguala Massacre: The State, Gangs, and Violent Pluralism in Mexico’.

It will continue on November 25 when the gallery hosts a special reading by the internationally acclaimed, Mexican writer and television host, Carmen Boullosa.
