Cringeworthy comedy comes to Kenilworth

A CLASSIC Victorian farce is coming to the Priory Theatre in Kenilworth this week.

The company will bring Brandon Thomas’ Charley’s Aunt to the stage from tomorrow (Wednesday) until Saturday July 14.

This popular classic comedy revolves around Lord Fancourt Babberley - affectionately known as ‘Babbs’ - a jolly little undergraduate with a penchant for amateur theatricals.

He is persuaded by love-sick Charley and love-sick friend Jack to impersonate Charley’s Aunt from Brazil, “where the nuts come from”.

When unexpected guests arrive for luncheon, there follows a dizzy round of manoeuvring. Will it all end happily ever after?

Director Richie Collett said: “This is without a doubt one of the funniest productions I have ever had the pleasure of directing. The cast have grasped the comedy with both hands and aren’t letting go - I’m still finding myself crying with laughter at every rehearsal.”

Tickets are available by calling the theatre box office on 863334 between 2pm and 8pm.
