Dr Teeth plan to go out with a bang at the Leamington LAMP

A “hell of a party” is promised at the Leamington LAMP on Saturday (December 21) as Warwickshire jump-jive and rhythm and blues stalwarts, the Dr Teeth Big Band, play their final gig.

Frontman Steve Steinhaus, who recently left his job as assistant headteacher at Trinity School to take on a vice principal role at a school in Coventry, said: “With this full-time job, I can no longer devote the time and research to running and performing in a band.

“I love the band and the players and I love playing in the band. But rather than running it into the ground or running out of gigs, we thought, why don’t we end it on our own terms?

“We have played at the Olympics and toured Europe and the United States - so it’s a good time to end.”

Next week’s gig will include a flash-mob choir, some guest players - and Steve said he has prepared a surprise for his fellow band members.

He said: “My wife keeps telling me that she is going to cry! I’m not sure if I will, but I will definitely miss spending time with the band, who are my close friends. It will be emotional, but it will also be a hell of a party.”

The gig starts at 8pm. Tickets £7.50 (£4 for under 25s). Call 886699 or visit www.leamingtonlamp.co.uk
