Folk singer favourite to end tour in Leamington

FOR every folk group on tour Warwickshire is a must visit, and award-winning singer/ songwriter Seth Lakeman is no different.

Lakeman has risen to the top of the UK folk scene, picking up awards and critical acclaim along the way, and has announced that his UK tour will finish at the Leamington Assembly.

The multi-instrumentalist is touring ahead of the release of his new album Tales From The Barrel House, and after successful previous performances at the Assembly and Warwick Folk Festival, was keen to wrap up the tour in the area.

He gained popularity as a recording artist, but has a burgeoning live following due to his foot-stomping and energetic shows which have taken him around the world.

He released the new album on a limited run and on his website in November, and it proved so popular it crashed the website and the limited run sold out within weeks.

It will be on national release next month, and tells stories from his Devonshire roots. One track was even recorded down a disused West Country copper mine and explores the history of artisans from the region.

He will perform at the Leamington Assembly on Saturday March 24. Tickets cost £18 and are available by calling 311311 or online at:www.leamingtonassembly.co.uk
