Former Warwick schoolgirl takes the plunge and bares all in new poetry collection

The poet and lyricist, who grew up in Kenilworth and was a pupil at Warwick Girls School, has published a new anthology, A Collection of Poems and Lyrics, in which she says, she “bares her soul”.

The 33-year-old has also had made a CD featuring a selection of her works read by actors Crawford Logan and Teresa Gallagher. She said: “To read poetry is a serious and sometimes difficult and demanding business, but to have it read to you by voices of great actors takes the depth and commitment to a new level.”

Kate said her love of poetry came to life after she spent an evening at a Josephine Hart Poetry Hour at the National Theatre in London. She said: “I listened to her passion and shared it. It was a revelation for me. I realised that yes, it was OK to be this outspoken and to allow yourself to be this vulnerable.

“‘You may never realise what you have made me be; I am a dreaming soul sublime, whose heart is lost to thee.’

“Try it next time you are lost for words beside the one you love.”
