Intimate village setting for new summer drama festival in Warwickshire

Amateur dramatists from around the Midlands are showcasing their talents in a new theatre festival in Warwickshire - and tickets go on sale today (Friday).

Lighthorne Drama Group are hosting a Festival of One-Act Plays, which will include nine plays by acting talents from across Warwickshire and Banbury.

As well as providing three nights of entertainment, the festival will be competitive with Mike Kaiser, a member of the Guild of Drama Adjudicators, judging the shows.

Festival committee chairman Rod Chaytor said: “It’s going to be a riveting contest with, I am sure, some great performances.”

The festival opens at Lighthorne village hall on Thursday June 20, with performances of Jack West’s Waiting For, Jim Sperinck’s Holmes Sweet Holmes and Jean Anouilh’s The Orchestra. On June 21, the shows will be Steve Harper’s Lions and Donkeys, Edward Albee’s The Zoo Story and Steve Farr’s The Obituary Show. On June 22, the performances will be Michael Frayn’s Chinamen, David Tristram’s Strictly Sex Factor On Ice and NJ Warburton’s Don’t Blame It On The Boots.
