The event, called Hit That Jive Jack, is headlined by multiple British Blues Awards winners Babajack, making their first appearance in Leamington. They have recently appeared at some of the UK’s most prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall and Shepherd’s Bush Empire. Their unique blend of styles has been described by Classic Rock Magazine as “an intoxicating brew of blues, folk and roots music”.

Their 2013 album Running Man was picked for the year’s top ten albums for Classic Rock Magazine, Classic Rock Blues and Guitar and Bass magazines.

Supporting Babajack is Jack Blackman. His guitar playing has been described as “exquisite” by Fatea magazine, and his unique songs have been generating a great deal of attention from the music industry. Jack’s music fuses a blues influence with classic songwriting and a folk sensibility. His voice has been described as sounding “older and more careworn than his tender years should allow” by Acoustic Magazine.

Also on the bill is hard-hitting Coventry performance poet Scrubber Jack, who has been making waves for several years at literary festivals and spoken word venues from Edinburgh to London.

Hosting the event are SugarDaddies, Leamington’s much-loved blues veterans. Adrian Litvinoff on double bass and keyboards, and Steve Roberts on guitar and harmonica bring years of understanding and experience of the Blues. They draw on the vast repertoire of classic blues while infusing it with their own musical and sometimes humorous perspective. They are joined for this event by Richard Westwood, another vastly experienced musician, on drums.

The night is organised by In The Moment, a new voluntary music promotion group.
