The Tin Music and Arts in the Canal Basin held its official launch as a charitable arts organisation on Tuesday with music and an exhibition featuring the work of local artists - including a collection of photographs and memories of the now-closed Tin Angel bar (the venue’s namesake) by former employee Emilie Gould. This exhibit will be on display until the last week of April.

The celebrations continue with the eccentric, Wurlitzer-wielding, Canadian musician Marker Starling playing tonight (Friday) and art-pop orchestral five-piece The Irrepressibles playing tomorrow (Saturday) - fresh from performing at the first ever UK gay marriage ceremony. The three-week programme also includes indie-folk, blues opera music and pysch-rock.

The Tin’s director Sarah Morgan said: “The volume of events taking place is exciting for the culture and music scene of Coventry. It is evidence that there is growing desire for creative expression in the city - and that acts from all over the world want to come and play here.”
