The show by David Wood, who this year won the award for his adaptation of Goodnight Mister Tom, is produced by the Birmingham Stage Company, well-known for its productions of Roald Dahl stories.

The classic tale sees lonely young boy James escape the enslavement of his revolting Aunts Sponge and Spiker by going on the adventure of a lifetime, thanks to a bag of magic that he spills near an old peach tree.
