Described as a “glittering star” by the founder of ArtsTrail Studios in Leamington, artist Wendy Cook likes to paint cakes and vegetables as much as people and still life.

Now a resident artist at the studios in Regent Court, Wendy enjoys using the space to work as well as talking to people about her paintings.

And it’s not just here where her work can be seen. Wendy’s paintings are in galleries across the West Midlands and she has sold work in Florida, California, Germany and Scotland. She was also recently invited to contribute work to Art in Rure, an art exhibition in Solihull of established and emerging artists from the UK, Europe and the United States.

Born in Leamington, Wendy grew up in Northamptonshire. She said: “I have drawn and painted all of my life but never had any formal art education. I first exhibited some of my work at the beginning of 2009 - and since then I have shown work in Rugby, Coventry, Stratford, Kenilworth, Leamington, Worcester and exhibited in the Rugby Open exhibition for the past four years.”

Wendy’s favourite medium is oil, but has been working on pencil portraits for the past year. She said: “My inspiration comes from the everyday images that I see and I look for form, colour and light.”

Gerry Smith, founder of ArtsTrail Studios, said: “Few artists have pushed through the artistic ranks like Wendy, who is a glittering star amongst the Leamington contemporary artists.

“A dedicated artist, Wendy works hard at her craft and produces the most exquisite oils on canvas of large ‘photo-realism’ paintings on a range of subjects.”

Six resident artists work and display at the studios, while they also as provide scanning, framing, and printing services to other artists. To find out more, visit www.ArtsTrail.co.uk
