Leamington Comic Con is set to be super

Independent writers and illustrators will showcase their talents at the first ever Leamington Comic Con on Saturday.

The event, taking place at the Pump Room from 10.30am to 4pm, will feature the likes of The Spital Cage writer and The Astral Gypsy Art Studio and Bookshop owner Al Davidson, Neil Gibson of T Publications and writer pf Kindle bestseller Twisted Dark and Nothampton’s Borderline press who put the best Europena and new unpublished comic book talent in the spotlight.

Phil Hall, of Borderline Press, said: “Our intention is to support ‘the small’ rather than continue to feed ‘the big’. That’s why we support Leamington Comic Con because it’s new, it’s ambitious and the organisers are clearly attmepting to put on professional event.”

Neil Gibson will be presenting ‘Five Ways How Comics Can Help You In Work and Study’ followed by a question and answer session hosted by Mike Garley of Adventure Time and Wallace and Gromit comics.

Along with stalls selling comic and memorabilia there will be a superhero and villain photo booth, face painting, caricatures, a cosplay competition and entertainment courtesy of Star Wars costuming group and the UK Garrison and Jester Styles the Magician.

The event has been organised thanks to the efforts of self-confessed Transformers nerd Dan Mallier who raised almost £1,800 via a crowd funding appeal which was supported by comic book fans from in and around Leamington.

More than 500 tickets have been sold but admission can be paid for on the door.
