The company are not only bringing to the stage Tim Firth’s much-loved comedy Calender Girls, but they have also posed for their very own calender, which patrons will be able to buy during performances. Proceeds will be donated to Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.

Based on a true story, the heartwarming plot tells the tale of a Yorkshire Women’s Institute group, whose members decide to pose in the nude for a calender to raise funds to buy a sofa for the visitor’s lounge of a hospital where one of the lady’s husband is being treated for leukaemia.

Director Gus MacDonald said: “This is a story that will make audiences laugh a lot, cry a bit, and leave the theatre feeling warm, happy and satisfied.”

The Loft’s calender (priced £6) was created by member Helen Asbourne - who also features as ‘Ms August’ - and was possible thanks to support from Ammac Design Studio in Leamington and Emmerson Press in Kenilworth.

The show opens at the theatre in Victoria Colonnade on Wednesday and runs until May 18. For tickets, call 0844 493 4938 or visit www.loft-theatre.co.uk
