The acclaimed professional chamber orchestra will play on November 20. Keen to introduce children to live music, they will not only be giving their usual evening recital, but a special family concert at 4.30pm.

The London-based musicians also perform individually with many of the capital’s greatest orchestras. They have a global following through their recordings, and are renowned for their unique spontaneity and humour. Directed by award-winning cellist and composer Gerard Le Feuvre, their concerts have reached places and people rarely touched by a live chamber orchestra.

This year they celebrate their 30th anniversary with a varied programme showcasing composers from the greats, to the greatly overlooked, in the form of a wry and thought-provoking look at the Christmas season and the true meaning of Christmas.

Director Gerard Le Feuvre says: “Ever since the first concert, we have dreamed of working in a lively, hilarious, and personal way that makes our music accessible, as we believe it belongs to everyone. We have been described as ‘the orchestra that restores your childhood dreams’ and I am immensely proud of this eccentric group of both musicians and friends who seize the day and bring life, music, joy and peace to all the community”.

Helen Mansfield, director for the BBC Proms, described the KCO’s family concerts as “the most exciting children’s concerts I have ever heard”.
