John Godber’s Our House will be stage from Monday May 27 to Saturday June 1.

May is finally moving house after 45 years and her son Jack comes to offer somewhat limited help. As the packed-up boxes are removed, scenes from the past surface and the audience is taken through a potted history of her life in the house.

We see the relationship May and her husband Ted had with their old neighbours, contrasted with their dislike of the ‘new breed’ of council house tenants who move in.

Tenants who deliberately turn their thumping music up loud to annoy the elderly couple, scream at their kids and soak May with a hose pipe - these are certainly the neighbours from hell.

John Francis of the Talisman said: “There is a spiky core to the piece that anyone who has lived through the end of the last century will recognise.

“The script rattles along with lighting, set and sound provided by the Talisman’s hugely experienced technical team, critically abetting changes of time and circumstance.”

He added: “Director Matthew Salisbury also promises a very satisfying denouement for anyone who has ever had bad neighbours.”

Performances start at 7.30pm. For tickets (£7 to £8.50), call 856548.
