Alfie Boe is to perform at the Alive @Delapre concerts on Sunday July 19.

His distinctive voice has helped him conquer the world’s most prestigious opera stages, lead the cast of Les Miserables for nearly a year, and steal the show at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace.

Alfie said of the concert: “All of the hits for musical theatre will be performed and there will be some songs from the latest album I have been working on.”

He appears in Northampton on the back of three sold-out UK tours including appearances at the Royal Festival Hall and the Royal Albert Hall.

He has succeeded in winning hundreds of thousands of fans, and achieving platinum album sales in the UK, as well as four top ten albums.

The concert is likely to feature a mixture of tunes from his time working in musical theatre and the classical concerts.

He said: “Both areas of musical theatre and the classical concerts are very different. It is nice to play a character and get into that but it is equally nice to be out there on the stage and people get to know the real Alfie.

“Classical music is a genre that always fascinated me and it was only when I get into performing and learning that I realised how it could be manufactured.

“It is something that I love performing and gives an audience a great joy ,”

For many fans of the musical Les Miserables, he will always be associated with the role of Jean Valjean in the show.

After appearing at Northampton, Alfie will be reprising the role for a stint on Broadway in September.

“I have been asked to go back to Broadway and perform in Les Miserables which I will be doing from September.

“It is very rare for people to be asked to appear on Broadway so I was very honoured that they asked me.

“It is a role which I have played so many times and a character which is great to play. I suspect this will be the last time I ever play the character so it will be very much a farewell to the role.

“I will be doing it for the next six months which is quite a short run. I couldn’t commit to any longer because of other things I am doing. There are always ideas knocking around for albums and shows.”

Tickets for the event will cost £39.75 and can be booked by calling the box office on 01604 624811 or by going online at www.royalandderngate.co.uk. Visit www.alfie-boe.com for more about the artist.
