Review: Orchestra plays best of British

The concert series at Warwick Arts Centre served up the best of British on Tuesday.

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, energetically conducted by Christoph Koenig, roused the audience with a wonderful performance of Edward Elgar’s Enigma Variations, particularly the beautiful Nimrod and the final dramatic E.D.U.

Another highlight of the evening was the playing of cellist Jamie Walton. His rendition of William Walton’s Cello Concerto was inspiring.

The orchestra also performed two short pieces by Frederick Delius.
