Some 200 children from south Warwickshire who sing with the ensemble’s AC Academy have been rehearsing for the performance, which will include festive favourites and musical medleys, for the past three months.

Hannah Illingworth, of the Military WAGs Choir, said: “Perhaps it is the uplifting nature of song, the community offered or the escape from the rigours of life - but what is clear from the testament of many is that the choir helps to withstand the more difficult times of being an army wife or girlfriend.”

Christopher Monks, artistic director and founder of Armonico Consort, said: “Through the formation of our choirs, we see a total breaking down of social barriers and a great rise in confidence and self-esteem through the creation of strong teams. It is always a great joy to unite two choirs and to bring different generations together.”

Today’s concert takes place at St Mark’s church in Rugby Road at 5pm. For tickets, call 0844 581 0750 or visit www.armonico.org.uk
