Stand up for top comedy line-up in Kenilworth

KENILWORTH’S growing stand-up comedy scene will get a big boost in the coming months when two venues host a series of events featuring up-and-coming acts.

The fun will begin at the Clarendon Arms in Castle Hill next Sunday when compere Phil McCullough and comedians Gary Delaney, Dan Wright, Tony Jameson and Pete Teckman take the stage in a night that will raise money for The Lord’s Taverners charity.

McCullough will also compere four further nights at the pub which will take place in August, October and December.

Events will also take place at Kenilworth Rugby Club, starting on Thursday April 19 with an evening with Martin Beaumont of The Stand Up Show fame and ‘The Punosaurus’ Tony Cowards.

Adam Green of Hilarious Comedy, the independent comedy brokers, said: “There are some amazing acts coming to Kenilworth this year who are at the top of their game right now.

“Over the last couple of years, we have brought some top TV comedians to the town, including Sarah Millican, Andrew Lawrence and Hal Cruttenden who have all appeared on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, and this year is no different.

Joe Lycett is considered by many to be the hottest act in the UK right now, and he will be previewing his brand new Edinburgh Festival show at Kenilworth Rugby Club on Thursday July 12, along with a special guest that has yet to be announced.

“On the June 21 at the rugby club, Gavin Webster will be also previewing his Edinburgh show.

“Over at the Clarendon Arms, possibly the funniest and most quotable comedian on the circuit, Gary Delaney will be heading the bill at their charity comedy night next and top circuit acts Mark Rough, Martin Beaumont and Tudur Owen have already been confirmed to appear throughout the year.”

Tickets for the shows at the Clarendon Arms can be bought at the bar or by calling 852017 while tickets for the rugby club shows will be available at the door or by visiting www.theticketsellers.co.uk
