Steve brings exciting show to Leamington

HOT on the heels of a sold-out show at Birmingham Symphony Hall, Steve Harley is coming to Leamington tonight (Wednesday) with a more intimate, acoustic offering for audiences at the Assembly.

Steve’s three-man acoustic outfit will play material from each of the thirteen albums he has released since Cockney Rebel’s debut, The Human Menagerie, with all the greatest hits included.

Audiences are being promised a musical journey through the decades from 1973 to the present day - while the gig will also feature tracks from his latest album, Stranger Comes To Town.

Giving people the chance to enjoy his music through a different prism, Steve will be accompanied on stage by his long-standing Cockney Rebel bandmate Barry Wickens on violin, guitar and vocals, as well as James Lascelles on piano and percussion.

The set will be built around all-time favourites like Mr Soft, Judy Teen, Mr Raffles, Sebastian - and of course the ever-popular Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me), all blended in with more recent tracks from critically-acclaimed albums The Quality Of Mercy and Stranger Comes To Town.

Steve said: “Playing the songs in an acoustic format gives me time and space to enjoy every second. And we improvise, which is always a big excitement for any musician. We can loosen off the arrangements and really explore. It gets pretty exciting during the acoustic sets.”

The gig at the Assembly in Spencer Street takes place tonight. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets cost £22.50. Call 0844 854 1358 or go online.
