Studio Sixteen is here to support artists in south Warwickshire

A project to give ceramic artists and designers in south Warwickshire a new space to work and exhibit in has now come to fruition.

Studio Sixteen offers temporary and permanent access to a range of professional ceramic facilities - including a large-scale kilm, digital printing, screen-printing and slip casting.

Already, eight ceramic artists are working in the space in Charles Street - while there is also a resident furniture maker, ‘Armando Magnino’, who has a fully-equipped woodwork and cabinet-making area.

The idea had originally been mooted by a group of Leamington artists who wanted to open a studio in south Leamington as part of Old Town’s Portas project - but after a year of hard work, the group had not been successful. Then they came across a ceramic business in Warwick that was able to help.

Leamington artist Andy Flint said: “Studio Sixteen is primarily a space for emerging artists to gain access to studio space and get the peer support they need to become successful.

“The professional equipment and the collective skills of the artists offer a unique resource and we will be seeking projects with other artists and industry.”

The artists are extending an open invitation to the studio’s open day on Friday December 6, 10am to 4pm. For further details, call 07854 549471 or visit studiosixteenblog.wordpress.com
