An new production of The Mummy, described by the Belgrade as a comedy-horror loosely based on Bram Stoker’s Jewel of the Seven Stars, takes the stage on Friday (March 21) and runs until Saturday March 29.

Adapted by Jack Milner, this new play combines comedy, inventive staging, special effects, magic and sleight of hand and takes inspiration from cult films. The search of mystical Queen Tera’s Tomb throws together a handsome lawyer, a beautiful heiress and a 5,000-year old man seeking his long lost ancient love.

A cast of seven includes Jason Durr (Pc Mike Bradley in ITV1’s Heartbeat), Susie Amy (Chardonnay Lane-Pascoe in ITV1’s Footballer’s Wives), and Denis Lill (roles in ITV1 drama The Royal and BBC One’s Only Fools and Horses).

The Mummy is directed by Joe Harmston, the Belgrade’s associate creative director, who said: “Anyone who loves a ripping good yarn told with lashings of theatrical magic by an ensemble cast of versatile actors on an ingenious set, or who likes their comedy fast-moving and gag-packed, will love this. The Mummy offers a daft antidote to all your woes in a single evening of insane adventure and entertainment.”
