Join the magic of Aladdin in Leamington this Christmas

Excitement has been building up for months - but the time for this year’s pantomime at the Spa Centre in Leamington is nearly here.

Families can immerse themselves in the magic and spectacle of Aladdin, produced by Imagine Theatre, at the venue in Newbold Terrace from Saturday December 7 to Saturday January 4.

Warwickshire actors Kevin McGreevy and David J Higgins are taking on the respective roles of Wishee Washee - Aladdin’s brother - and the ‘baddie’, Abanazar.

Panto regular Kevin said: “Panto is an amazing thing and I get so much out of it. I love the energy and the response you get from the audience. There’s nothing better than hearing audiences rolling about laughing.

“It is hard being away at Christmas and I especially miss my dog Bobby Dazzler, but it’s great being in Leamington because it’s local to me.”

Taking part in the show means long hours of work, day after day - but thankfully, the team do get Christmas Day off. While Kevin said that he “planned to sleep” (around the present giving and eating), David said: “We’re being very lazy this Christmas - no cooking at home. We’re going out for Christmas dinner and inviting family and friends. Saves washing up.”

Both actors say that, despite having to perform the same show again and again for almost a month, they don’t find it difficult to keep it fresh.

Kevin said: “Every performance is different because every audience makes it different and there are always different reactions.”

David added: “You can feed off the energy, anticipation and excitement created by the audience.”

The Spa Centre is advising people to book their tickets as soon as possible to ensure they get to see the show. Call 334418 or visit www.royalspacentreandtownhall.co.uk
