Laughs all over town with festival

Comedy will return with a bang with more venues, free shows and a world record joke attempt at this year’s Leamington Comedy Festival.

The annual Hobgoblin festival will return for the third year from tomorrow (October 11) taking on a host of new locations in the town.

Bringing together comedy, family events, pub quizzes and a line-up of famous faces, the week promises to deliver something for everyone.

And with the first heats of a new comedy award, a night of comedy pub bingo and chance to set a world record for the most jokes told in one town on one day - organisers promise to deliver something for everyone.

Children will not be forgotten with the return of Comedy Club 4 Kids, as well as puppetry mirth and mayhem from Squashbox Theatre Company.

And to round the week off, the bumper Hobgoblin Festival Finale will return to the Spa Centre on October 18.

Festival co-director, Mark Makin said: “The festival has always been a pretty broad church in terms of what we think constitutes comedy and it’s really that breadth that has allowed us to grow the festival line up over the last couple of years.

“Comedy is a really simple premise; we all feel better when we laugh and it’s that notion which makes the festival good for us, the people of Leamington and the town itself.

“We’re just pleased that people seem to like what we do and have a good time.”

Events will run at the Assembly, Royal Pug, Fat Pug, The White Horse, St Patrick’s Club and in Regent Court.
