TWO hit films are being screened at the Spa Centre Cinema as it re-opens for 2013.

Michael Haneke’s 2012 Cannes Film Festival Palme d’or winner Amour is a powerful and deeply moving film, which details the tender and loving relationship between two elderly musicians.

Anne and Georges’ happy marriage is tested when Anne suffers a series of devastating strokes and Georges insists on caring for her at home, a decision their daughter, played by Isabelle Huppert, fails to understand.

But the couple continue with their life, creating an increasingly private world, with their long-standing devotion to each other remaining unshakeable.

Yann Martel’s bestselling adventure novel Life of Pi gets the big-screen treatment with this hotly anticipated adaptation helmed by director Ang Lee.

The coming-of-age story surrounds the son of a zookeeper who survives a shipwreck by stowing away on a lifeboat with a zebra, an orangutan, a hyena, and a Bengal tiger by the name of Richard Parker.

Suraj Sharma heads up the cast as the young boy, with Gérard Depardieu, Adil Hussain, Irrfan Khan, Rafe Spall, and Bollywood actress Tabu also starring.

Amour is showing today (Wednesday), while Life of Pi will be screened from Friday.
