Families are invited to joing Dame Spangela and Jingles the Jester, along with a host of crazy and colourful characters as Sleeping Beauty, by Steve Boden, takes the stage this month.

Most of us know the story: Princess Willow is cursed at her christening by the wicked Fairy Carabosse, who decrees that the Princess will prick her finger on her 18th birthday and fall asleep for 100 years. The only way the curse will be lifted is if a Prince awakes her with a kiss.

The amateur theatre group are promising the usual mayhem as the Dame (Dan Blizzard), Jingles (Liam Hogan-Birse) and the heroic Prince Valient (Clare Sykes) try to rescue the Beauty, Princess Willow (Ellen Turner).

There will also be plenty of family comedy from the loveable King (Priory Theatre president Keith Morris) and Queen (Ruth Jones) and comedy Duo–Wheel (Laura Jackson) and Deal (Paul Sanders), as well as original songs written by Rebecca Gardner Tildesley and Steve Vent.

Co-director Alec Brown said: “With the great cast we have and the fantastic costumes, dance routines and songs, we can see why the tickets are selling so well.”

The show opens next Friday (December 13) and runs until Saturday December 29. For tickets, call 863334 between 2pm and 8pm.
