Playbox in Warwick is the place for performers

PLACES are still available for a selection of projects for young people at Playbox Theatre in Warwick this summer.

The Shelley Avenue theatre company is offering budding performers the chance to train in acting, dance, stage combat, music, and circus, across a range of theatre adventures, culminating in performances on stage at The Dream Factory.

Demand for places on the various courses has been high, but spaces are still available for The Light Princess, which runs from Monday July 30 to Friday August 3 and the Drama School Crash Course, from Monday August 13 to Friday August 17.

Nikki Cross, executive secretary for Playbox, said: “It would be great to highlight Project 2012 and its connection to a certain big event this summer.

“The week is going to culminate in an Opening Ceremony-style presentation featuring circus, dance, puppetry and other theatrical techniques that, we hope, will rival the event in London.

“The Drama School project has some really exciting trainers, actors and performers on board ready to guide participants on an intensive, week-long course, focusing on their route to a career in the performing arts.

The Light Princess focuses on a mysterious story, based on a work by George MacDonald.

“This summer, director Mary King will explore how this may work as a big physical show for the summer of 2013, and over one week will create a draft version for audiences to view and discuss. “

The projects cater for ages from four to 22.
