No stranger to Jane Austen stage adaptations, having performed several to sell-out venues across the country, the company are performing Sense and Sensibility at the castle on Thursday (August 14).

Scriptwriter of the production Laura Turner said: “Sense and Sensibility has always been my favourite of the Jane Austen novels. The story is full of splendour, but at the heart is a very sentimental story about finding love, true friendship and sisterly affection - and for me, this is what makes it so relevant to today, 200 years after it was written.

“I think the fact that Joanna Trollope has chosen this story for recent modernisation really shows how much we can still find a Jane Austen’s work that relates to modern life and the trails we face in the pursuit of happiness.”

Audiences can follow the story of Elinor and Marianne Dashwood as they make their first forays into the exquisite world of eighteenth-century society and attempt to find the perfect balance of sense and sensibility.

People are welcome to bring a picnic and advised to bring chairs or blankets to sit on and warm and waterproof clothing.

The performance starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £13 (concessions and children £11) if booked in advance or £15/£13 on the gate. Family tickets also available. Call 0871 2200260 or visit www.seetickets.com
