Adapted from the original TV series and cartoon strip by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice and using music and lyrics composed by Andrew Lippa, the musical is a regional premiere for the theatre in Barrow Road.

The audience will be taken on a fiendishly funny journey with the gothic family, as young Wednesday falls in love with - horror of horrors - a sweet, smart and normal young man. Inevitably the fateful evening arrives when the young man and his parents are due to join the Addams household for dinner.

The show is a special one for director Stephen Duckham as it will be his 150th over a 50-year career in professional and amateur theatre - both in the UK and internationally.

Speaking to the Courier, the 63-year-old said: “I was 13 when I was first in shows and first came to the Talisman in 1971. I am very grateful to the Talisman because they started me off, so I have always stayed loyal to them.

“I love directing - you get to create something from scratch, which is really a wonderful thing. Moving from the bare page to the opening night is a tremendous journey.”

The Addams Family Musical runs from Saturday June 21 to Saturday June 28 at 7.30pm each evening (no performance on the Sunday). For tickets, call 856548.
