Top violinist to appear at Warwick church

A MULTI-award winning violinist will join the Armonico Consort in Warwick next week.

Scottish violinist Nicola Benedetti is one of the biggest names in classical music at the moment, with her latest CD Italia receiving international acclaim.

She will take to the stage at St Mary’s Church in Warwick at the end of the month with the popular chamber choir and orchestra Armonico Consort for a programme featuring Vivaldi’s violin concerto Il Grosso Mogul.

Artistic director of Armonico Consort Christopher Monks said: “It has always been a huge privilege to work with Nicola – the musicians all love her, and she is utterly inspiring.

“What will be very interesting this time is that for the first time, she is using a baroque bow for the performance – which is a slightly different shape to a modern bow, and commands a different phrasing from the instrument – creating a more vibrant, voice-like and exciting result from the music.

“The venues are perfect for the audience to be up close to one of the musical geniuses of our time.”

The performance is on Thursday March 29 at 7.30pm, with tickets from £12.50 to £39.50 available by calling 0844 5810750 or going online at: www.armonico.org.uk
