Violinist to pull in quartet crowd

Leamington-born, Edward Dusinberre will bring another rousing performance to his hometown when he plays alongside the Takacs String Quartet as part of the International String Quartet series.Dusinberre has led the ensemble for over 20 years, and together they will perform a programme of quartets by Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven at the Pump Room on November 13. The Takacs Quartet was formed in Hungary in 1975 and was given the Wigmore Hall Medal earlier this year - the latest in a list of accolades for the musicians. Two of the original four, second violin Karoly Schranz and cellist Andras Fejer are still with the group. Edward Dusinberre joined in 1993 and the American viola player, Geraldine Walther in 2005.The Quartet often plays with other leading musicians and has put on special programmes with actors including Meryl Streep and the late Philip Seymour Hoffmann.Richard Phillips, festival director, said: “Edward was here in June to give a concert to raise funds for a bursary, so that young musicians might be helped, as he had been when accepted by the famous Juilliard School in New York. “He filled the Pump Room then and it will happen again when the Takacs is here in November.”The monthly quartet series continues on November 28 with the Zemlinsky Quartet from the Czech Republic.In the New Year, there will be concerts by the Jubilee Quartet, the Brodsky Quartet and the Villiers Quartet, with the last on March 24 being recorded by BBC Radio 3.Starts at 7.30pm, tickets from Leamington Town Hall, on 334418 or at {http://www.royalspacentreandtownhall.co.uk|www.royalspacentreandtownhall.co.uk}
