Warwick and Kenilworth choir celebrates 60 years with Fanfare

A special concert full of memories will mark the Warwick and Kenilworth Choral Society’s 60th anniversary at All Saints’ church in Leamington this weekend.

Conducted by musical director Julian Parkin and accompanied by the Beauchamp Sinfonia, the society - which was formed when two choirs from Warwick and Kenilworth came together in 1953 - will perform Haydn’s The Creation and a specially commissioned piece called Fanfare for 60 written by choir member Margaret Vickery.

Margaret Battersea, 83, the only original member of the choir still performing, said: “My 60 years with the society have been amazing.”

The concert is on Saturday March 29 at 7.30pm. Tickets £13, available from Presto Classical in Leamington, Kenilworth Books in Kenilworth and on the door.
