Kit and society member Samuel Lom put their heads together to rewrite the classic and make it their own.

Set against a backdrop of the mafia-influenced 1960s Italy, the production includes all the high drama of the original, including a wedding, a murder and heavy seduction. Director Fraser Simpson said: “Don Giovanni’s plot is driven by revenge and lust, which ties in very well with the image we have of the mafia, brought into the public consciousness by films such as The Godfather.”

The production’s musical director is second year maths and physics student Sam Foster, while the dark and twisted Don Giovanni will be played by final year student Rory Carver, who said: “As a baritone, most of my roles will be as the hero’s comedy sidekick, so I’m looking forward to playing the baddie in such a dark production.”

The total cast number 21, accompanied by a 35-strong orchestra.

Performances take place at Warwick Arts Centre from Thursday (January 16) to Saturday January 18 at 7.30pm each evening. Tickets £11 to £15. To book, call 024 7652 4524 or visit www.warwickartscentre.co.uk
