Warwick Words book brings publishing coup for budding writers

THE creative talents of writers of all ages from the Leamington and Warwick area will soon be shared in a brand new book.

The first copy of Warwick Words, an anthology made up of 137 poems and stories penned by unestablished writers, has rolled hot off the printing press at the Leamington-based Warwick Printing Co ltd.

Run by Andrew Maiden to coincide with this year’s Warwick Words Festival - which is celebrating its tenth anniversary, the book will be available to buy on the first day of the festival, Saturday October 1, at St Nicholas church in Warwick, where contributors of the work will be signing copies.

Andrew said: “We were delighted with the response to our competition. After careful consideration, the judges selected 137 poems and stories from the 300 entries and I think they have come up with an imaginative, interesting and entertaining selection.”

Screenwriter and festival patron Andrew Davies, widely known for his popular period dramas and films, has written an introduction for the anthology and he will be there to support the authors at the launch event, which is free to attend.

Warwick Words costs £7.50 and will also be on sale at other festival events and during and after the festival at Warwick Books in Market Place, Warwick. Orders can be placed in advance by sending a cheque payable to ‘Warwick Words’ to Warwick Words book, 7 The Grange, Cubbington, Leamington CV32 7LE. Discounts are available for multiple buys.
