West End star lends support to charity gig in Leamington

West End actor Danny Taylor, who is performing in Leamington at a charity gig.

Danny Taylor, who has played Sammy in Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers for the past 15 years and acted in television shows including The Bill and Brookside, is also a talented folk/blues/swing singer-songwriter and performed with the likes of Mel C, Marti Pellow, Barbara Dickson and Bernie Nolan.

As his father lives in Leamington, Danny considers it his “second home” - so when his dad’s good friend Christine Scott told him about her passion for the PDSA animal charity, he was all too pleased to offer to perform a gig to help her raise funds. He said: “I’m thrilled to be able to perform in Leamington.

“I’ve been writing songs since I was a kid. I write about anything that’s happening to me. Music is a good channel to express what’s going on in my life.”

Entry to the gig, which takes place at the Liberal Club at Oak House, Upper Holly Walk, on Friday (June 13) at 7.30pm, is free, but donations and proceeds from a raffle - with prizes including champagne, high tea for two and vouchers for Aubrey Allen and wine from Tesco - will go towards the charity.
