The Belgrade Theatre, Coventry, presents Terence Rattigan’s poignant play Flare Path until Saturday, November 7. It stars Philip Franks, Olivia Hallinan, Leon Ockenden and Alastair Whatley. Based on Rattigan’s experiences as a tail gunner during the Second World War, Flare Path paints an evocative portrait of life in wartime Britain for the RAF bomber crews, and their wives and sweethearts who were left waiting their return. Periodic Tales: The Art of the Elements

Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum, until December 6: A celebration of the 10th anniversary of Leamington Football Club reaching the first round proper of the FA Cup. The third Leamington Underground Cinema Festival begins with two special events. It starts at North Hall, Spencer Yard, at 4.30pm with a screening of the cult detective film Zero Effect starring Bill Pullman and Ben Stiller. The film will be preceded by a panel discussion of Sherlock Holmes and cinema, illustrated by numerous clips. The festival hosts its first Desert Island Films event at 8pm. A unique night of comedy is promised at Warwick Arts Centre in aid of Leamington charity Thare Machi Education. The line-up has been put together by Hal Cruttenden, who will be joined by Terry Alderton, Tom Binns and Alexis Dubus. All proceeds will go to Thare Machi’s work to provide basic health education, in their own language, to people around the world who would otherwise not have access to life-saving information.
