Periodic Tales: The Art of the Elements

Exhibition runs at Compton Verney until December 13. The exhibition is based on the best-selling book, Periodic Tales: The Curious Lives of the Elements by Hugh Aldersey-Williams. It features work by Joseph Beuys, Tim Etchells, Antony Gormley, Thomas Heatherwick, Eduardo Paolozzi, Cornelia Parker RA and others. Visit www.comptonverney.org.uk for details.

Deasil Art Gallery, Oxford Street, Leamington: Inked Palette, an exhibition of tattoo art with over 15 tattoo artists’ work. The exhibition opens at 6.30pm on Saturday and runs until October 20.

Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum, until December 6: A celebration of the tenth anniversary of Leamington Football Club reaching the first round proper of the FA Cup. As well as memorabilia, those who wish to relive the football matches can watch a film documenting the cup run on the TV screen in the museum. There will also be a place for people to share their memories of the day.

Doritos advert stars The Mariachis will spice up Coventry music venue the Kasbah on Friday when they perform a live fiesta. During their lively stage routines, the band dress in traditional charro suits while performing their own Mexican renditions of pop classics such as Duran Duran’s Rio, Human League’s Don’t You Want Me Baby and East 17’s Stay Another Day. The Coventry & Warwickshire Youth Orchestra, conducted by Brian Chappell, will be giving its first concert of the season at 2.30pm in the Hall of King Henry VIII School, Warwick Road, Coventry. The programme will include Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, Saint-Saens Violin Concerto No 3. Bizet’s 2nd L’Arlesienne Suite and a rare performance of a Cuban Suite by British composer Bryan Kelly.
