A wheelie good online business

A WARWICK based online retailer has been shortlisted in the Nectar Business Small Business Awards 2011.

Rentabuggy.co.uk – which rents pushchairs to parents - is waiting in suspense to find out if they will pick up the accolade, which will be judged by a panel of experts including businesswoman and star of hit show The Apprentice, Karren Brady.

Laura Morris set up Rentabuggy.co.uk after the birth of her daughter upon noticing how quickly costs add up for new parents.

She spotted a gap in the market for renting out popular pushchairs to new parents to hire until their little ones grew out of them.

She has since expanded the business further, renting out other baby essentials including travel cots, highchairs and much more that can be delivered to anywhere in the UK.

Ms Morris said: “I’m thrilled that Rentabuggy.co.uk has been shortlisted in the Nectar Business Small Business Awards Online Business of the Year.

“Our business couldn’t exist without the internet, and we constantly interact with our customers and use social media to raise awareness of our brand.

“The prize money and Nectar points could help us to grow our business even more.”

Two other local businesses were also shortlisted for awards, with founder of Alumet construction firm Gary Summers, who employs 120 people, up in the entrepreneur category.

He said: “I am so pleased to have been shortlisted.

“My father instilled a work ethic in me to ‘always do more than what is expected’ - which has definitely stuck.

“I’ve worked hard and taken risks to get where I am today, so being recognised as the winner of the entrepreneur category would be a true honour”

Marketing director at Nectar James Frost said: “The standard of entries to the Nectar Business Small Business Awards was particularly high this year.

“We wish all the shortlisted candidates the best of luck.”

The winner of each category will scoop £2000 and 50,000 Nectar points.
