The application has not yet appeared on the council's public system - but a notice has been stuck on the shop's window

Gambling chain Betfred has applied to open a betting shop in the unit which used to host Monsoon in Rugby town centre.

The chain, which already has branches in the town centre, has lodged an application with Rugby Borough Council - with a legal notice appearing on the deserted Market Place shop's window.

Under the licensing rules, those who live nearby the shop or those whose businesses might be affected by its opening are permitted to submit any comments they might have to the council - see application has not yet appeared on the council's planning portal, or its licensing applications feed - but we will bring you more information when we get it.
