During Bob’s career the business has changed hands several times, as has Bob’s role within the dealership.

Starting as T Main & Co Ltd, it became C&E Motors Leamington, Keep Trust Motors, Spa Motor Holdings, Cowes, Arriva and finally Drive Vauxhall in 1991 when the site moved to its current location on the corner of Rugby Road and Old Milverton Road, Leamington.

Bob is now 65 and started as an apprentice technician on July 20 1964. He completed his apprenticeship after five years and worked as a technician for two years before becoming service manager, aged 22. When he was 26 he was made service director. And when the firm was taken over by Cowes, Bob became general service manager. He held this position until 2006 when he became service operations manager, handling the warranty side of the service department as well as assisting in many other areas.

Bob says that he has been lucky to have worked with some great people and teams over his years at Drive Vauxhall and takes great pride in the number of apprentices he has worked with and seen develop in to first class technicians and managers. He puts much of his success to working for a service manager, Chris McQuistian, who supported him in his early days. Bob has always prided himself in having a good relationship with Vauxhall.

Bob is married with two sons and thanks his wife Sue for her support over the years.

Bob lives in Cubbington and was a keen rugby player for over 40 years at Harbury Rugby Club. He became chairman for seven years when his playing career came to an end.
