The competition was run by local business, Go Go Makers – an educational club designed to encourage children to use their imaginations and unleash their creative skills.

The competition, called ‘Design a New Friend for Mr Go Go’, was open to children in reception classes and Key Stage One (aged between 4-7 years) of selected schools, who were tasked with designing a new friend for the club mascot, Mr Go Go.

Founder and director of Go Go Makers, Emma Canning, established the competition as she wanted to give local children the opportunity to embark on a creative journey that not only helped develop them on an educational level, but also fulfilled the Go Go Makers’ philosophy of inspire, imagine and create.

Emma said: “We have had an overwhelming response to the competition and feedback from the teachers, parents and children themselves has been so positive.

“It was really amazing to see over 400 children have so much fun.

“The excitement on their faces as they were designing their characters was fantastic and they were all rightfully so proud of their designs.

“I visited all the schools and encouraged the children in a fun and inspiring way to get creative by meeting Mr Go Go, singing the Go Go Makers song, discovering the magical materials inside the Go Go Makers box and then designing, drawing, colouring and decorating their creations.

“Each child also received a super star stamp as a reward.”
