Leamington music business enjoyed a huge growth in sales of classical music during lockdown

A Leamington music business says it has seen a huge growth in sales of classical music during lockdown.

Presto Music has reported a 26 per cent year-on-year growth in sales during April to September 2020, and an overall sales growth of 63 per cent in the past six months.

Chris O’Reilly, CEO of Presto Music, said: “Lockdown has seen customer demand for classical and sheet music explode.

"Alongside the growth in downloads, CD sales still account for 50 per cent of our revenue due to the richer information, booklets and high quality sound.”

During lockdown, Presto Music's top three best sellers have included:

1. Debussy and Rameau, Víkingur Ólafsson (piano)

2. Shostakovich: Violin Concertos, Alina Ibragimova (violin), State Academic Symphony

3. Bach - Pour La Luth Ò Cembal, Sean Shibe (guitar)
