Retired Rugby teacher felt like the Queen when she opened new-look opticians in town

A loyal customer joked she felt like the Queen when she was chosen to officially launch a new-look opticians in Rugby.

Great-grandmother Pat Stokes aged 89, performed the honours at Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care on Regent Street and received a gift voucher and flowers as a thank-you.

The retired teacher, who lives in the town, said: “It was such a surprise and a great honour to be asked.

"They are such a lovely team and they look after me so well. They are so kind and professional.”

Pat has her glasses and hearing aids from the branch where she has been a customer since 2003. “I recommended Scrivens to my sister and treated her to the same hearing aids as I have because I was so pleased with them,” she added.

Branch manager Sarah Cave said: “Our revamped store looks great so we wanted to mark its reopening in style.

"Pat has entrusted her eye and hearing care to us for many years so she was an ideal choice to launch it. She loves coming here, likes to talk to us and even treats us to chocolates at Easter and Christmas.”

The new-look store features the latest digital eye examination equipment and a new and updated range of frames, including the latest designer names.

Family business Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care was established in 1938 and has 173 branches.
