Traditional pub bags third award

THE Stag in Offchurch has scooped another national industry award by winning Les Routiers’ Newcomer of the Year.

This latest accolade marks a hat-trick success for the traditional country pub and represents the third award it has won in just over a year.

It also rewards the team’s conscientious efforts to strive for continuous improvement and maintain the high standards of quality Anglo French cuisine and customer service.

Charles Harris, operations director, said: “This has only been achieved by having such a hard-working and committed team, and our thanks go to all of them and of course to our customers who have continued to support us since we launched and became a vital part of the local community.”

The Stag is run and managed by Nigel Brown and Charles Harris, protégés of Raymond Blanc who has continued to influence and play a significant role in the style of cuisine, with the emphasis on locally sourced fresh seasonal produce.

It has also won Best Food Pub of the Year in 2010 and its manager Lizzie King won the individual Best Customer Service of the Year Award in the Warwickshire and Coventry Food and Drink Awards in 2009 when the pub was also shortlisted for the Best Dining Pub/Restaurant category.

The Stag also qualified as a member of Les Routiers in 2010 and won the annual Newcomer of the Year Award, which means its pub restaurant met the very high quality criteria laid down by Les Routiers. This includes the provision of clean, comfortable facilities; good quality food and drink, provide a welcoming environment, good customer service and good value-for-money.
