A dog rescue charity shop in Rugby town centre has no plans to ‘leave it’.

Volunteers at Pawprints Dog Rescue Charity Shop, in Rugby Central, have been approached by shoppers who are concerned about the store’s future.

Christine Lord, volunteer at the Manning Walk shop, said: “It was a bit disconcerting to be asked by three customers this week when our lovely shop is closing.

“We suspect that this is because of the forthcoming closure of several shops due to the redevelopment of part the Rugby centre. We would like to reiterate that we are absolutely not closing - in fact we have recently signed a five-year lease on our Rugby town shop.”

Christine said the charity needs the income to continue to help care for dogs in their rescue kennels.

"We need funds to build the future of the charity,” she added.

“Please do keep supporting Pawprints and all the other small retailers and charity shops in the town centre.

“Every purchase you make can help make a difference to us all.”
