Young driver helps to show company success

Southam-based tool manufacturer Tool Connection held two special open days to celebrate the company’s continued success and expansion.

The open days on September 10 and 11 coincided with the opening of their latest 30,000 sq ft warehouse and the formation of their BTCC (British Touring Car Championship) team, Laser Tools Racing.

On display was the Laser Tools Racing BTCC car and its driver Aiden Moffat.

At 17 years old, he is the youngest ever driver in the BTCC.

Also there were the motorcycle and classic touring car teams that the company also sponsors, and the Aston Martin Le Mans racer (Laser Tools are the official tool supplier to Aston Martin Racing).

Aiden Moffat hosted an informative question and answer session on his first season in the BTCC and then it was time to cut the ribbon and allow entry into the massive new 30,000 square foot warehouse — there were gasps from the invited guests at the sheer size of the building and the line up of vehicles and activities set out for them.

Tools and equipment from all the company’s brands (Laser Tools, Gunson Tools, Kamasa, Power-TEC bodyshop equipment and Connect consumables) were demonstrated.

Rich Jones, senior games designer of Southam-based Codemasters Software Company said: “It was great to be invited and to see all the race cars and the touring car team was terrific. A really professional set up.”

Tool Connection’s managing director Martin Smith said: “We held the open days to say thank you to our customers, distributors and staff.”

The company was originally founded in Leamington and moved to the Southam site in 1998.
