New Round Oak headteacher looks to the future

Round Oak School is hoping to move ‘beyond outstanding’ after appointing a new headteacher.

Jane Naylor took over at Round Oak School in Warwick for the start of term following a previous headship in Rotherham.

She said: “I’m really looking forward to working with parents, carers, members of staff and members of the community.

“I want to have a visualising session sometime before Christmas, where we can put together a vision for the school. Everybody can have the opportunity to help us work towards the future.

“From what the information we get back we can put together the collective vision for the next five years.

“We’re calling the vision ‘beyond outstanding’ because I want us to be absolutely the best we can.”

Originally from the south west of England, Ms Naylor moved to Yorkshire to train before forging a career in teaching at special schools, most recently being the head at a school in Rotherham.

She added: “I enjoy enormously being head of a school with a sixth form, as my previous school was up to 16.

“It’s a bigger school as well, and I’m looking forward to the challenge.

“I’ve loved it so far, I have found Warwick to be extremely welcoming. I have met one or two parents who have been very friendly.”
