After clsoing their doors on Friday (March 20), Schools across the Warwick district have been doing their bit to help those in need during the coronavirus pandemic.

Here are just a few of the initiatives they have done. #actsofkindness

With last week's temporary school closure, Budbrooke Primary School end on a positive. All children came in non uniform with food donations to give to the local church so they can continue to provide support to the most vulnerable. The food was gratefully collected by Louisa and Pete from St Michael. Headteacher Craig McKee said: “It’s humbling to see the community spirit during this time of need and uncertainty.”

Trinity Catholic School, Leamington

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, Year 7 students at Trinity Catholic School have been writing letters that will be distributed to hospitals, nursing homes and other people who are in isolation. The letters contain stories, jokes and a bit of information about the students that have sent them. Due to people not being able move as freely at this time, one student said "there's no reason we can't still send them a smile in an envelope".

In keeping with the school motto as "a Catholic learning community devoted to the Common Good", students have attempted to spread some positivity and bring the community together during a time that people may feel very alone. The school are liaising with other primary schools, and are in regular contact with care providers who may want to receive letters in an attempt to spread a smile around the community at a particularly difficult time.

The Federation of Briar Hill Infant School and St. Margaret's CE Junior School in Whitnash have set up a Crowd Funder page to support our most vulnerable families. It has been set up by our SENDCO, Ruth Beeston, as we are very aware that some families who are not currently vulnerable may become so with the unknowns of the virus. The money raised will allow us to buy food vouchers for those who need it (more details are also on the web page).

In the first two days, it raised over £2,500. Gina Guest, year 3 teacher and RE lead at St. Margaret's C of E Junior School, said: "This is absolutely amazing and we are bowled over by the generosity of our community. It would also be lovely to share this with other schools who are trying to support these children during this time.
